We are pleased to announce the first edition of our Globe at Night Newsletter! This monthly publication will keep you up-to-date with the latest Globe at Night news. Our first campaign of 2014 was a success, with over 2000 submissions worldwide! Thanks to everyone who participated!

Dark Skies Rangers Contest!

Do you have a great idea for how to combat light pollution? We would love to hear about it. Enter the Dark Skies Rangers Contest and you could win a weeklong trip to the Alqueva Dark Skies Reserve in Portugal!

365 Days of Astronomy Podcast

Join the adventures of the Dark Skies Crusader and his apprentice, the Dark Night, as they combat light pollution and educate the populous about smart lighting! Listen to the January podcast, and tune in mid-March for the next installment!

New Apps!

Any device with an Internet connection can use our Webapp to submit data. This is the fastest way to see your data appear on Globe at Night.

There are also two new data-taking apps available for Android and iPhone users. For Android users, download the free Loss of the Night App. For iPhone users, download the Dark Sky Meter.

Global Astronomy Month

April is Global Astronomy Month. Here are some ways you can get involved:

  • Plan a Star Party for your school, church, scout troop, or other organization
  • Take Globe at Night readings during the April campaign
  • Adopt-a-Street in your town by taking readings along the length of the street
