GLOBE at Night Dataset File Formats and Field Names

FILE FORMATS:

GaN2010.csv - text file with comma serparated values

GaN2010.txt - text file with tab delimited values

GaN2010.xls - Mircrosoft Excel Spreadsheet format, suitable for direct import into ArcGIS 9.2, AEJEE, and ArcGIS Explorer

GaN2010.gdb.zip - zip file for the ESRI personal geodatabase for use with ArcGIS 9.x.

GaN2010_shp.zip - Zipped archive containing the 3 files that make up an ESRI Shapfile version of the data with .prj file.

GaN2010_ORION.kmz - zipped file for Orion data to use with Google Maps

GaN2010_SQM.kmz - zipped file for Orion data to use with Google Maps


FIELDS:

LATITUDE= LATITUDE

LONGITUDE = LONGITUDE

OBSDATE = Date and time the observation was reported in format MM/DD/YY 

MAG = limiting magnitude as determined by magnitude chart observed (data range 1-7.  -9999 is no data)

SQM = sky quality meter (data range 6-24. 0.00 is no data)

CLOUD_COVER = Estimate of the cloud cover in the sky

COMMENTLOC= comments on location

COMMENTSKY = comments on sky conditions

COUNTRY = country of observation
