GLOBE at Night header report section
Observation Data Sheet | Multiple Observations

You are encouraged to observe the nighttime sky in more than one location! We request that you move to a location that is at least 1 km away from your initial location. This can be done on the same night or on another night any time during the dates of the campaign. At each location, you will still want to determine the darkest area at which to make the observation. Don’t forget to get new latitude and longitude coordinates.

For example, observe the nighttime sky near your home. Then observe the nighttime sky in another location with more or less lights. You may consider locations such as the home of a relative, a location near the edge of your community or near the center of your community.

  • Can you immediately see the difference in the magnitude of stars that are visible?
  • What will the nighttime sky look like near a farming area, a shopping mall, a sports stadium, or a city center?
